Hard Sell Calculator

For a hard (or soft) sell to be an effective use of recruiting hours, your grades need to align well with a recruit's motivations. Select a recruit's 3 motivation grades to determine whether to hard sell or send the house.

Common Questions

This tool helps you decide between using a Hard Sell or spending your hours on influence actions like Send The House. It looks at your school's grades across a recruit's three motivations and tells you which approach will get you the most out of your recruiting hours. Strong grades mean a Hard Sell will land well, but if your grades are weak in those areas, you're better off sticking with influence actions instead of wasting a Hard Sell that won't connect.
Pick the three motivation grades that match the recruit you're evaluating. The calculator scores each grade on a scale from A+ (best) down to F (worst), adds them up, and checks whether the total is high enough for a Hard Sell to be worth it. You'll get an instant recommendation as soon as all three grades are selected.
The cutoff comes down to your average grade across the three motivations. If the average lands at C+ or better, a Hard Sell will get you more recruiting value per hour than Send The House. Below that, your grades aren't strong enough for the Hard Sell to connect and you're better off spending those hours on influence actions. This threshold was validated through community testing across many recruiting scenarios in CF26.
A Hard Sell costs 40 hours while Send The House costs 50, so at first glance they aren't equal. But you can follow up a Hard Sell with a 10-hour DM The Player action, making both options a 50-hour investment. That's how the calculator compares them fairly. And if you've got 60+ hours to spend on a recruit, the best play is to Hard Sell for 40, then Soft Sell with two of their correct motivations for the remaining 20.
